Lord Grent is a mage hunter — a specialist in tracking, capturing, and destroying magical threats including cursed immortals, necromancers, and void-touched entities. He led a team of five hunters (Zed, Markus, Deago, Cox, and Billy) to the ruins of Grey Thorn to permanently destroy Kane.
Grent's team managed to subdue Kane through coordinated assault, stake him through the chest, line his grave with blessed stone, and bury him in consecrated ground. They believed the holy site would neutralize Kane's immortality. They were catastrophically wrong — the sacred soil of Grey Thorn answered to Kane's bloodline, not to the hunters' blessings. Kane rose from his grave hours later and pursued them into the night.
