Physical Traits
The Highborn do not age as mortals do. Their bodies mature to physical perfection — typically in their third decade — and then cease aging entirely. They are tall, always standing over six feet in height, and some nearing or exceeding seven. Their features are flawless by elven standards — sculpted faces, symmetrical bone structure, and lean, powerful builds. Their skin ranges from pale ivory to deep obsidian, but all Highborn share one unmistakable trait: a faint inner glow beneath the surface of their flesh, most visible under moonlight or starlight. Their hair is always long, ranging from snow-white to pitch black, and their eyes shine with luminous color — often crystal blue, emerald green, radiant gold, or pure white.
Culture & Society
The Highborn operate through a unified doctrine called the One Pattern. To them, the universe is not chaotic — it is structured, sacred, and intelligent. The sun, moon, and stars are not deities, but manifestations of a greater design. This design is not worshiped in prayer, but in alignment. Their temples are not filled with icons, but with lenses, pools, and chambers aligned to celestial points. To violate the Pattern is heresy. To exist within it is enlightenment. The Highborn have no traditional clergy or gods. Instead, they operate through orders aligned with each celestial force. Sunbinders act as lawgivers and militant inquisitors. Moonweavers maintain memory rites, handle dream interference, and perform the Rite of Lethe. Starcallers are scholars, astronomers, and interpreters of fate, often working in isolation within massive observatories.

- • Star Lord Glandamgil (ruler of Morningstar)
- • Lady Alunaralen, the Moon's Voice (ruler of Silverlight)
The Three Kingdoms
Everdawn is the Throne of the Sun, a blazing citadel of radiant towers and golden valleys ruled by the Sun Lord, Siltaron. Morningstar is the Throne of the Stars, a crystalline spire among the clouds where time is measured in probabilities and prophecy, ruled by the Star Lord, Glandamgil. Silverlight is the Throne of the Moon, veiled in eternal twilight, where dreams speak and illusions rule — the domain of Lady Alunaralen, the Moon's Voice. Though each kingdom is sovereign, all three operate within the unified doctrine of the One Pattern.
Starbridges
The Highborn use devices called Starbridges that can teleport them anywhere on the surface of Tanelon, as long as there is no great counter or anti-magic spell or field present. A Starbridge looks like a giant rainbow made of silver light, and leaves a silver outline on the ground. It is said the only way to enter the High Elven kingdoms is by using the Starbridges. There are other ways — just a lot more difficult.
Starfire & Immortality
The Highborn are powered not by soulfire, as other races are, but by Starfire — a rare, stable, and potent essence drawn from the Arcane Veil. This gives them unmatched magical affinity and a resonance with celestial forces that even the gods acknowledge. More than a source of power, Starfire is the key to their immortality. When a Highborn dies, they do not pass into an afterlife. Their soul returns to the Arcane Veil, where it remains in suspension — waiting for a tri-harmonic alignment of the sun, moon, and stars. Only when the Pattern permits does that soul descend into a newly born Highborn child.
Ghostmarks & The Rite of Lethe
Rebirth comes with a price. Reborn children often carry ghostmarks — echoes of trauma from past lives. A fear of drowning. A reaction to betrayal. A language spoken in dreams. These marks are monitored, recorded, and respected. They can be tragic as well — past loves or friendships the child remembers but must give up to move on. At the age of ten, each Highborn child is prepared to undergo the Rite of Lethe, a mandatory ritual in which they surrender all past-life memories to the Pool of Memory — a basin of starliquid hidden deep within each of the three kingdoms. There, under the supervision of the Moonweavers and Starcallers, the child gazes into their former lives and must choose to forget. This is not symbolic. The child will have two years to prepare if they wish, but no longer. At the age of twelve they must decide. If the child refuses, or cannot let go, they may fracture — spiritually, emotionally, or permanently. Such individuals are watched closely, sometimes exiled, or in rare cases killed, so the process can start again.
Military Forces
The Highborn field small, hyper-specialized forces. Their strategy is not based on numbers, but on precision and terrain control. Spellblades, Summoners, Arcane Archers, and Pegasus-riding Air Cavalry make up their conventional deployments. True battlefield dominance comes from the Triune Orders — the Knights of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. Sun Knights burn through ranks with radiant lances. Moon Knights strike unseen, severing thought and memory. Star Knights twist time, redirect momentum, and outmaneuver entire battalions with predictive magic. Wars with the Highborn are rare — but when they occur, they end quickly and absolutely.
Relations with Other Races
Their alliance with the Wood Elves remains strong. The two races do not mingle, but they do respect one another. No wars have ever been fought between them, and both sides keep to their borders. The Highborn hold no hatred for the dwarves or humans — only indifference. They don't fear the Dreaming Empire of Dor, nor do they attempt to rival it. They simply exist outside of it. To step into their valley uninvited is to risk erasure. To be marked by their judgment is to disappear from the Pattern. And to be chosen by the Highborn — for war, diplomacy, or prophecy — is to carry the weight of something older than gods. They do not call themselves perfect. They call themselves aligned. And that, to them, is enough.
