The Grim Shadows
A private, elite, multi-division paramilitary organization headquartered in Arkest. They function as a sovereign military force with their own laws, execution systems, and recruitment protocols.

Arkest, City of Gates
The oldest and most dangerous city in the empire. Five cities in one — where every coin bleeds and every gate could open into something you cannot return from.

The Silver Veil

Rake

The Blood Hunters
The backbone of the Grim Shadows' military might — an unyielding wall of steel and discipline. Three sub-units: Iron Fangs, Crimson Hounds, Bonecrushers.

The Red Rain
The silent edge of the Grim Shadows' war machine — archers, scouts, and ranged specialists. Three sub-units: Shadow Stalkers, Ember Arrows, Storm Bolts.

The Witchblades
The most feared arcane warriors in the Grim Shadows — wielders of cursed steel and spell-forged rage. Three branches: Grey Balance, Hexbringers, Blackflame Circle.

The Black Ravens
The assassination and intelligence division of the Grim Shadows. They are not a unit — they are a death sentence. Three branches: Crimson Blades, Nightstalkers, Ghost Walkers.

The Grave
Underground headquarters of the Grim Shadows — hidden beneath a ruined cemetery in Arkest's Northern Quarter. Never successfully infiltrated.

Malrik Dreadmourne
Former Red Hand of the Grim Shadows, known as Old Knife. A warrior-mage who knew High Elven forbidden magic. Killed in a Silver Veil ambush, but took over forty enemies with him.
NightFang & VoidFang
Twin dark elven daggers carried by Starfaller — weapons of legendary lethality wielded by the Red Hand of the Grim Shadows.

Kane Grey Thorn
Heir to the ruined throne of Grey Thorn. Cursed immortal bounty hunter, over six hundred years old, wandering Tanelon with a body that decays and a hunger that never dies.

Sorrowblade
Dark elf exile of Clan Darkashul. Daughter of High Lord Darkashul by a lowborn mother. Assassin wielding twin soulglass short swords. Joined the Grim Shadows after fleeing Tal'Zareth.

Bladesfool
Dark elf exile of Clan Darkashul. A curved-sword fighter with eyes like bruised ember and pale tattoo spirals. Left Tal'Zareth with Sorrowblade after their mission was revealed as a setup.

Titan Staraxe
A dwarf lord wielding Blood Song — a runic axe of devastating power. Fought alongside the Grim Shadows during the Shadowborn Hunt in the Stone Garden.
